Communication for Home, Road and Outdoors

Use the radios to help family or group members stay in contact around a campsite, during outdoor activities, on road trips, or as part of a household emergency communication plan.

Midland advertises communication at distances of up to 36 miles under favorable open conditions with little or no obstruction. Actual range can vary substantially because of terrain, buildings, vegetation, weather and other conditions.

Weather Awareness When Conditions Change

The built-in NOAA Weather Alert Radio with Weather Scan adds an important preparedness feature. The radio can scan for local NOAA weather broadcasts and provide severe-weather alerts, helping you stay informed when conditions change.

An integrated SOS siren provides another useful emergency signaling option.

Important GMRS License Information

An FCC GMRS license is required to legally operate these radios. Midland currently states that the license costs $35, is valid for 10 years, and covers the license holder and immediate family.

Always review current FCC requirements and Midland’s operating instructions before using GMRS radio equipment.
